12/19/08 - Chongqing.Our last in Chongqing. We decided to take one more walk around the city center before leaving. We went a few blocks from the hotel and the neighborhoods started getting poorer and the sights getting more interesting with very small shops and restaurants. Kate seems to be OK with leaving her home area. Perhaps someday she will return.
On the way back we stopped at McDonalds and I went in to order the food while Denise waited outside. I looked out the window and saw a crowd forming around Denise and Kate. Kate was not dressed as warm as the local older women feel is needed so by the time I got outside Denise was getting lots of "advice" on how she should be dressed and being told how cold Kate must be. I am glad we are heading toward warmer temps in Guangzhou.
We headed for the airport at 3pm and Anita, our guide, ran a tight ship and got us through all the travel, check-in, etc. with no problems and lots of time to spare. Anita was a great guide and always there to help us in Chongqing!! Kate was not happy about being on a plane and cried and screamed for the first 15 - 20 minutes and then thankfully slept the rest of the 90 minute flight.
We arrived at the White Swan hotel about 8:30 pm and pretty well crashed for the night.
Tomorrow is a big day for forms and getting ready for the big day (Tuesday's swearing in at the US consulate) when Kate is fully ours and we can take her home to the US as a US citizen.
